Generics

The cost of healthcare is rising faster than Plan Sponsors can afford. Increasing generic utilization is a critical component to slowing down the rate of this increase. HealthCore MSO can assist your organization to drive generic dispensing rates higher as the market realized a full-year value of the $14.7 billion in 2007 generic introductions and the $9.6 billion generic opportunity expected in 2008 as part of the $91 billion in branded medicines that face patent expirations from 2008 through 2015.

HealthCore MSO will request data from our clients regarding high value prescribers (the prescribers with the greatest potential for increasing generic prescribing) in a certain demographic city/region. With tens of thousands of pharmaceutical sales representatives promoting the more expensive brand-only products within a therapeutic class, how can the use of generic alternatives increase?  Generic promotion!  Physicians would like to prescribe the most cost effective medications within a certain therapeutic class, and most agree that generics offer a great alternative, but many physicians are not informed of the less-expensive generic product within the targeted therapeutic classes. Education, marketing, and targeted sales are the keys to changing the physicians drug selection. HealthCore MSO will focus on the physicians through generic education to aid the plan stay budgetary goals.

 

Our services consist of (3) components:

Sales:  We will promote the generically available products within a therapeutic class. For example, a physician likes generics but is not sure what product is generically available in the SSRI catagory. We will target that physician with sales messages that promote the brand or brands that are now generically available in that class (i.e. Prozac, Paxil, etc.)

Marketing:  After our sales call, we leave the physicians office, but, we will introduce marketing aids that continue to reinforce our generics sales message. For example, we will have a chart of the brand and generically available products within a targeted therapeutic class; this will help remind the physician of the lowest cost generic product available within each major therapeutic class.

Education: We will help the physician understand the equivalency, effectiveness, and cost-savings of generics. We will inform the employee (consumer) with education and marketing through seminars and educational material.

Virtual Office Visit

Many health insurers are investing in Virtual Office Visits. According to the CDC, doctor visits in the United States have surged 20 percent in the last five years to more than 1.2 billion visits annually, while the number of physicians in the U.S. are on the decline. Virtual Office Visits are a perfect solution.
